Allie Livesey – Wednesday

Hello Everyone 🙂

This will be a short one today. I feel a little disconnected from everything today, I have had a lot of other things happening. All in all, however, the campaign has been going great 🙂

Until tomorrow, Love Allie.

Liam Danger Park: Wednesday Morning

I’m Consistently surprised and impressed by the generosity of people. A  few days ago I was joking that I’d never had lobster and that it would be great if someone would donate some. Sure enough the Capilano Board of Governors had a meeting with plenty of leftovers that they donated including lobster stuffed ravioli. I’m hoping soon gold bars, gem stones, and expensive musical equipment. Maybe a mini-moog. Soon we can probably open a bakery as we have constantly incoming stock of donuts, muffins, banana bread and the likes. Maybe we should have the cold and stale bake sale on Friday.

Brandon Hofmarks: Monday

Brandons Dangler:

Dear Dairy,

Well last night was interesting!!!

We were blessed by a windstorm that sung us a terrifying song all night long. We also had strangers walking around us at night speaking in another language. At some point Liam’s hobo shack exploded and we heard the pleasant sound of cardboard rushing back and forth.

When I got up at 8:00, I sat around and begun to “beg” people for my morning meal and cawfee. I was successful!!!! Around the time I perked up via caffeine the donations began to come rollin’ in 🙂

The lovely rain and wind started to rip all our signs off, and it was really hard to deal with because of the lack of energy.

The rest of the day was filled with people donating money and delicious meals. I have crafted a new sleeping mat out of garbage bags and old newspapers.

If you don’t get another post, expect the worst.

Liam Danger Park: Monday

CRASH! It must have been bad wolf. As calm has the night was to begin, bed time would have carried Dorthy past Oz all the way to Antarctica or further, sent my box castle bricks flying like they’d been hit by seige stationary. Way to comfy to fix it. During the night I had some dream visitors but ever more who were real and quite surprised at the squat which had appeared over the weekend. They don’t understand. How could they. I don’t even understand why am I homeless. Why is anyone. Okay, I chose it. But sort of because many people don’t. Maybe. People have been VERY generous with food for me and the residents of my shanty town. Unfortunately I know many of the donors or they knew me. I don’t know any homeless people in Vancouver and most people don’t. Most of the people who need the help can’t get it and don’t have a community to turn to. How to really deal with it or associate with these situations. From out youth we’re told not to talk to strangers and adults are never taught how much can be learned if we do try it.

Allie Livesey: Monday

I woke up this morning to a beautiful Monday morning surrounded by many beautiful people. I am so exited to be a part of this campaign.

It was quite unusual having to think about where I would eat and what I would drink today! I have never had to fully depend on the kind donations of others to get through a day. I have to admit that I was somewhat taken aback from the mountains of goodwill – toothbrushes and paste, food and warm beverages, donations to the North Shore Youth Safe House – People are truly amazing.

I feel like today I was meant to let everything go and try as much as I can to share the issue of homelessness. So far, its great.

Love, Allie.

Melanda Dandenhower: Monday

Woke up… quite a few times last night 🙂 Wasn’t quite used  to the cardboard mattress but other than that it was all good! I had an awesome day! At lunch time PAul Butler came and gave a talk where I learned about what he does at the North Shore Youth Safe House and he also came to check on us this evening to make sure we were okay. And I learned in even more detail what an awesome cause the funds we are raising are going to and am excited to hear more in the discussions throughout the week. Also my faith in humanity has been restored! (not that it was ever in jeopardy!)

People have been extremely generous donating us food, and coffee hot chocolate and someone just DONATED TOOTH BRUSHES! Yessssss!

My only wish of the day is to see all the amazing generosity we have seen and the respect we have been given can be transferred to those who may not get it as often (always) as they should!

Goodnight and sweet dreams

Sage Birley: Monday

Last night was the first night sleeping outside cap and what an experience. It felt like hours ticked by while I tried to convince my self to just fall asleep. Here I am sitting outside a well lit university tucked away from the city perfectly safe but still afraid to sleep. I can’t imagine the horrors of trying to sleep alone on a cold dark street when you know every sound you hear is potentially dangerous. I can understand why people turn to substances to numb the pain and try to sleep. In the middle of the night winds kicked right up and it got loud. Liams box fort got torn apart and we could hear crashing boxes for the rest of the night. It’s unvelievable how much noise leaves make! At around 5:30am I worke up to cafeteria staff ratteling the gate and nervously looking down at us. We told them the doors were locked but they didn’t give up for sometime. It didn’t occur to me until after talking to paul that had we truly been homeless, we would have been kicked out without hesitation or arrested. Getting cuffed and dragged away. But the people have been incredible so far. The generosity of people never fails to blow me away. Who knew sleeping on the streets could restore faith in humanity.
